MeanFreePath takes your privacy very seriously and will take all legally-sanction measures to ensure it is protected. We believe the best way to protect your information is to minimize the amount of personal information we collect in the first place, and securely store everything else.

Part I. Data Storage and Security

MeanFreePath protects user information with the following security measures: secure servers, firewalls, SSL encryption, and other technology and procedures that may help us to protect consumer privacy.

In order to ensure the safety of your credit card transactions, all credit card and personal information is handled by 256-bit secure socket layer (SSL) encryption, which is designed to render information unreadable in the unlikely instance that the transferred information is intercepted.

Part II. Information Collection

All Orders

MeanFreePath collects information through our Web site only at the point of sale. We collect the following information about our customers: name, address, telephone number, and email address.

Credit Card Orders

In order to facilitate a credit card transaction and verify customer authenticity, MeanFreePath must collect the following customer information:

  • credit card number
  • credit card issuer
  • credit card expiration date
  • credit card CVV2 code
  • customer billing address

This information is not permanently stored by MeanFreePath in any format — it is immediately encrypted and transmitted to our credit card gateway for processing, then removed from our systems' memory.

Other Data

MeanFreePath does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.

We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information:

  • downloads & free trials

Email Addresses

Customers who place an order or request a free trial of our software must provide a valid email address in order to do so. This address is used exclusively by us for the express purpose of processing your order or free trial. We will not sell, rent, or lend your email address to any 3rd party, except as required by law.

Passwords

Customers who have placed an order will need a password to access their customer section and download their products. Initially this password is generated for you, though you can change it at any time. All passwords are stored using MD5 hash encryption and cannot be retrieved, even by our IT staff. If you lose your password, you may reset it via our "forgot password" page in the customer section.

Cookies

MeanFreePath uses only session cookies at this time — once the user closes the browser, the cookie automatically terminates and all information is cleared. By accepting a cookie on our site, you do not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. If you reject the cookie, you may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that you will be limited in some areas of our site. For example, you may not place any product orders or access your customer section.

Part III. Information Usage

The information collected by MeanFreePath will be used to facilitate the purchase of our products by you, and track overall usage at our site.

The information we collect will also be used to create customer profiles based on browsing or purchasing history, however we will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources.

We will only share data with credit card companies, and only to the extent necessary to facilitate your purchase. We will never share your data for the purpose of receiving information from third parties.

If our policy on information collection or use of information changes, we will advise you by posting a notice on this page.
